Artist Jinnan Zhang, Nickname Richard Zhang, was born in China. He went Honolulu in 1989 and had a MS degree on Information Studies at graduate school of University of Hawaii in 1992. He and his family move to Seattle and have been living there since 1993.
His passion for art was strongly influenced by his family when he was a child. He spent lot of time, after school, to draw the ancient generals riding horses and soldiers from illustration books. One of his big dreams at his childhood was to be a great artist. In his boyhood, all schools were closed. He had to leave his family and he spent several years in the country in a dreary life. He worked and lived with farmers. He kept reading and drawing, sometimes tried to sculpture farmers with the clay from rice field.
Art and nature are very important in his life. In addition to drawing and painting, he also enjoys photography. He has been traveled many countries for photography in North and South Americas, East and West Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. He also was honored to have Gold, Silver and Bronze medals from medal from the PSA (Photography Society of America) , the GCPA (Global Chinese Photography Association) for his excellent photos. In June, 2024, he was honored to have the First Place for Paintings in Gallery Art 2024 Edmonds Arts Festival
